Post Register to expand business news coverage

Since we launched the Business Register page nearly five years ago, we have featured hundreds if not thousands of businesses, awards, announcements and business people in the Shoptalk column and in People In Business.

While I haven’t gone all the way back to the section’s 2012 debut, I did go back to the start of this year to count the number of businesses and business people featured on the page since January. I believe the numbers are pretty impressive.

More than 230 people have been featured in People in Business in 2017. That’s separate from the more than 200 businesses, announcements, awards and events that have been featured this year in the Shoptalk column. And of course, the Shoptalk column’s history dates back more than 25 years and has seen a variety of columnists filling that role. This is my third stint since 2010, although my duties likely will shift in the coming months.

For 2018 we have even bigger plans. Reporter Marc Basham recently joined the Post Register staff to help lead our business coverage. You may have seen his recent articles on business growth in Blackfoot and the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce’s role in helping the local business sector grow.

We’re also exploring ways to partner with the Idaho State Journal, Rexburg Standard Journal and Teton Valley News in Driggs to enhance all of our news coverage, including business news coverage. Those papers were recently purchased by our parent company, Adams Publishing Group, as part of its acquisition of the Pioneer News Group.

But we couldn’t offer the region’s most robust business coverage without your help. Here’s how to share your information.

You can submit business news and story suggestions by emailing news@postregister

The Shoptalk column reports on business trends, acquisitions, contracts, openings and relocations.

People in Business features news of promotions, certifications, awards and management-level hires.

The Post Register accepts headshot photographs of people in business so long as those photos are of publishable quality. Emailed photos should be attached as jpegs and should be large format of at least several hundred kilobytes (k) in size.
